Jess Gray

Jess writes: As a mum of one, my introduction to running many years after leaving school was to the all familiar tune of a new mummy desperate to lose the baby weight. A few 10ks and a marathon later a friend talked me into running London to Brighton. This event opened my eyes to the world of trail running and the excitement of a moving buffet! Since then I’ve eaten my way around several national and international trail races. Each race has taught me so much about success, failure and adaptability, all of which I find myself using in my work as a physiotherapist and as a newbie House-renovator! Ultimately I have found trail running gives me the ability to switch-off from my suffocating everyday worries and switch-on to living every moment on the trail.

Vickie Coleman

Vickie has been running for 5 years and her enjoyment of the trails – and hills in particular has steadily grown ever since. She loves running with her two Lurchers and with Doug as long as he can keep up!

Charlotte Bunce

Charlotte writes: I was a road runner up until 3 years ago when I fell in love with the calm, quiet and peaceful trails. I’m not fast, I’m not really competitive but I love finding new routes, new trails and organised races.

Trails running has given me the opportunity to detach myself from being a working mum and alllow time to clear my head and to breath!

Kate Crossland

“Although I grew up in London, I’ve never felt more at home than running in the countryside, views stretching out around me, red kites overhead. Trail running for me isn’t about the speed, but about the exploration, about feeling connected with nature, and about sharing the feeling of freedom and joy with others. Giving myself permission to stop and take a photo of a stunning sky, admire a bird hovering in the wind overhead, or exploring a new footpath to see where it leads; these are the moments I run for. I’ve been fortunate enough to do some fantastic races since I started running properly 5 years ago. The Dark Skies Trail Marathon around Kielder Water was an extraordinary experience; running by the light of a headtorch, hearing only my footfall and the occasional owl hooting, under the moon and the stars. I do enjoy obstacle course racing as well, and enjoy using the occasional haystack or fallen tree as an obstacle mid-run. I look forward to sharing my passion for outdoors and the natural world with others as we run.”

Jamie Marlow

Jamie took up running in 2005. Since then he has run 18 marathons (pb 2.47) and found his way to the Trails to complete over 15 trail ultramarathons. Including races like the 100 mile South Downs Way, Ridgeway 84 Mile and recently The Lakes in a Day 50 mile Ultra (which has 4000m of elevation!). With a passion for travel, exploring and new experiences, he loves nothing more than looking at a map and heading out for a run. Jamie loves his Trail Running (especially in the Alps) and wants to share the same joy he gets from being out there with others. Jamie is a qualified UKA running Coach.

Chris Peters

Chris is a passionate ultra trail runner. Going long is his thing!

Chris writes: Running was there for me when I required some clarity in my life as an opportunity to release from the stresses of the time. It has remained with me as a constant which is rewarding on many levels, mental and physical health, friends, experiences.

Neal Ashton

After years of playing football, Neal has seen the Trail running light! Alongside Charlotte his wife, he enjoys heading off the beaten track at every opportunity and enjoys leading new people into the unknown too!

Claire Sanders

Claire loves running on the trails and combines it with expert knowledge of yoga. She and Jamie her partner love running in the high mountains of the Alps on their Holidays, and Poppy their Labrador often comes along too!
